Research Overview

My major field of research is to assess and objectify the risk factors of cardiovascular disorders in obese children. Since my arrival in London, I have obtained several local and provincial grants, to investigate cardio-vascular function in overweight and obese children and adolescents with congenital heart defects.

My other field of research is to understand the heart development by imaging of heart function in Xenopus embryos.

I am originally from Persia, and moved to Germany as an adolescent. I completed my training in Germany, as a Paediatrician and Paediatric Cardiologist, and obtained an equivalent of a PhD from the Hannover Medical School (MHH), Germany.

I am currently Professor, in the Department of Paediatrics at the Western University, Head of the Paediatric Cardiology Department at the London Health Sciences Centre, Scientist at Children Health Research Institute (CHRI) and Lawson Health Research Institute, as well as an active member of the Western Clinician Investigator Program (CIP) and the CHRI operations committee.

In addition, I am cross appointed as a Professor for Paediatric Cardiology at the Hannover Medical School and the University of Göttingen, Germany, Associate Professor for Cardiology at Western University, and Associate Professor for Paediatric Cardiology at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
