Dr. Marina Ybarra is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University and a Pediatric Endocrinologist at the Children's Hospital in London, Ontario. She is also an Associate Scientist at the Children's Health Research Institute and at the Lawson Health Research Institute.
Dr. Ybarra received her medical education in São Paulo, Brazil, where she subsequently completed post-graduate training in Pediatrics and Pediatric Endocrinology. She then earned a Master's in Science, studying polycystic ovary syndrome in adolescents with obesity.
Dr. Ybarra's clinical and research interests are focused on childhood obesity. While in São Paulo, Brazil, she worked at the University's Pediatric Weight Management Clinic and the joint Pediatric Endocrinology and Bariatric Surgery Clinic for youth for over three years. In 2016, she moved to Montreal, where she completed a Research Fellowship on childhood obesity at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Sainte-Justine at the University of Montreal. These valuable experiences enabled her to establish connections in the Childhood Obesity Research Community and expand her network for future collaborative studies.
Dr. Ybarra is currently leading the newly launched Pediatric Weight Management Clinic at London Health Sciences Center - Children's Hospital.
