London Health Research Day showcases ground-breaking research in health

Hundreds of young researchers came together for London Health Research Day on March 29, 2016 in celebration of health research and the ground-breaking work being done across the city of London.

London Health Research Day is the largest research day of its kind in Ontario, with more than 750 participants, judges and guests in attendance this year. The research presented spans all areas of health – cancer, aging, rehabilitation, imaging, children’s health, biomedical devices, surgical innovation, infection and immunity, mental health and more.

“This event unites young researchers from across the city. It shows the incredible scope and quality of health research being done here by tomorrow’s leaders in medical research,” says Dr. David Hill, Scientific Director, Lawson Health Research Institute. “This helps to feature the region as a leader in health sciences, innovation and collaboration.”

Over 400 students, trainees, clinical fellows, residents and postdoctoral scholars presented poster or platform presentations, with a portion selected for judging. Together, participants represent medical labs from across the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry and Lawson Health Research Institute, including Robarts Research Institute, London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care London.

Informative workshops by industry leaders and an awards reception completed the day.

London Health Research Day is presented in partnership by Lawson Health Research Institute and Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry.
