Job Description

Lawson Health Research Institute (Lawson) is the research institute of London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care London. As one of Canada’s top ten research institutes, we are committed to furthering scientific knowledge to advance health care around the world.

The Research Admin Assistant will be responsible for the administrative/clerical aspects of clinical studies conducted within the Uro oncology Clinical Trials Group, Victoria Hospital. Duties include day-to-day operations of booking/scheduling study participant appointments and tests; blood processing and shipping; assisting with investigational product accountability and reconciliation; document management; data base entry for clinical trials. The position requires working collaboratively within a study team and reporting to the Unit Manager.

Qualifications

Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in a health care discipline preferred
• Prior related experience in a similar role, preferably in an academic/research environment
• Knowledge of medical terminology required
• Experience with booking/scheduling appointments and tests required
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage a large volume of records and files
• Demonstrated data base entry, and experience with clinical trial data an asset
• Training in blood processing and shipping (Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certification preferred)
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Power Chart an asset)
• Knowledge of ICH Good Clinical Practice guidelines an asset
• Well developed interpersonal, verbal and written skills for effectively communicating with healthcare professionals, patients and
family members
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
• Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s Mission, Vision and Values
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
